Joe is a graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. As a sculptor, muralist, ceramicist, he has had numerous exhibitions, residencies, and commissions. Active in his Jewish faith, he is experienced in working with diverse cultural groups. Two recent interfaith projects include creating the Doorways to Peace mural project in partnership with Arts & Spirituality Center, the Al Aqsa Islamic Society and neighboring schools and community groups in Kensington South.
“I find a connection between the human figure and the forms found in the natural landscape. I take the patterned gestures of dancers and the poses of figure models to create the geometric and organic shapes seen through the movements of their body. I am also interested in capturing the essence of a person. Form, shape, texture, and colors are used to express the personality and spirit of the subject.”
